Have you ever liked a musician personally without really digging their music? Sounds weird, but I’ve had a few. Donna Summer was huge when I was coming up through school. I thought she was sexy and a great performer with a powerful voice….i just didn’t dig the songs.
Love to Love You, Donna Summer won’t change your taste in music, but it does a superb job of revealing that Summer was way, way deeper than anyone knew. Her philosophy, business sense and dealing with racial and feminine issues – all contributed to her being a Weill-rounded, sophisticated woman – not just the “Queen of Disco.”
I’ve watched every music doc on HBO Max these past few years and they’ve all been eye-opening and successful at presenting artists in multiple dimensions.
I recommend this one to all my fellow Music Nerds on Facebook .
