I’ve always gotten a kick out of Lady Gaga’s artistic vision and admired her advocacy on behalf of people who need it. But, for some reason, I’ve just never really dug her songs. But I found a way to enjoy the artistry without needing to sing-along with the tunes.
Last week the 13-time GRAMMY® and Academy Award® winner debuted the HBO Original concert special GAGA CHROMATICA BALL; now streaming exclusively on Max, and I enjoyed the experience of the stunning visual elements and her crazy-ass costumes. It was fun.
I wasn’t alone; 52,000 fans joined in from Dodger Stadium in L.A. and their enthusiasm was unconditional, though if they’d known that the pop icon had also directed and created the special, they might have squealed even louder.

All the hits you’d expect are there: Stupid Love,” “Bad Romance,” “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” “Shallow,” “Rain on Me,” and more. At times, the sets and multitude of dancers sort of visually dimmish her, but there are plenty of close-ups for those of us watching at home.
Based on footage I’ve seen from recent tours by Taylor Swift and Madonna, Gaga’s rig is superior in scope as well as the technical direction from the mobile truck that changes cameras and angles like an NFL game on double-speed.
I may not buy her next record, but I’d definitely go to her next concert
