“The Help” is a rather nice movie about an ugly subject. Based on the bestselling book by Kathryn Stockett, and directed by her personal friend, Tate Taylor, it tells the story of African American “domestics” who, with the encouragement of a young white woman, recount their personal stories of hate and hope for a book.
I sat down with the great actress Octavia Spencer, who plays “Minnie” and the director of “The Help”, Tate Taylor, for this edition of “Five Questions With….”

“The Help” is a film about race relations in Mississippi during the 60’s based on a popular novel. The central character is an unmarried white woman who becomes interested in writing about the life experiences of the black women who work in her hometown. This is primarily a long ‘chick flick’ with good performances and a lot of work to recreate the era.
