“Sparkle” is an altered remake of the 1976 film which was seen as ‘inspired’ by the Supremes. Transplanted from Harlem to Detroit with a lavish (but not explained) home and with Satin a comedian (instead of a gangster), etc. Do yourself a favor and watch the original.
