One of the things that makes a “Bad Movie” truly bad is its total lack of awareness. The movie must have absolutely no idea of its awfulness just to be considered among the bottom tier of cinematic offenders. For that reason alone, we can say that one may not love “Lockout,” but one certainly can’t say that the movie isn’t aware of its B-Movie aspirations. It succeeds on that level, and if you go into to theater with that frame of mind, you’ll enjoy its silliness—oh, and Guy Pearce totally nails the anti-hero with a dangling cigarette and wise-cracking disposition with ease. He’s having fun, and it’s contagious.

“Lockout” is a scifi thriller set in 2079. Our ‘hero’ is being falsely blamed for murder and espionage while trying to locate a metal suitcase that might provide his freedom. He is about to be sent to a maximum security prison (MS-1) orbiting the earth when his talents are needed to rescue a special female hostage on MS-1. Leave your brain at the door for this (very early) summer popcorner loaded with violence, death, and pyrotechnics.
